Blair Surpasses 1,000 Points at BJU as Bruins Defeat Bengals 102-58

It was a great night on the court as the Bob Jones University men's basketball team came away with a dominant 102-58 victory over the University Maine - Fort Kent from the Davis Field House in Greenville, South Carolina. Seeing another win on the court, Henry Blair surpassed his 1,000 points mark during his two year career at Bob Jones University as he led the team with 25 points on the night.

"The team knows there are not many games left, and I needed them to respond and play a game with energy," said Head Coach Burton Uwarow. "When you see a 102-58 score it can seem like the opponent wasn't very good, but the Bengals are actually a pretty good team and they kept the first half pretty close. But I was glad our team came ready to play and improve and that we were able to get playing time for everybody."

After a tough road loss on Saturday to Trinity Baptist College, the Bruins welcomed the University of Maine - Fort Kent to the Davis Field House Monday evening. The Bengals came into the game at 2-18 on the season, in the midst of a 12-game losing streak. Today marked the first meeting between the Bruins and the Bengals.

UMFK got the scoring started tonight before the Bruins scored six straight to pull ahead 6-3. For the next few minutes it was a back and forth effort with the score remaining pretty even between the two programs. Dillon Harris kicked off a seven point streak with a jumper to tally his first points of the game. The scoring continued for the Bruins and with two minutes remaining before the break, Henry Blair came up with a jumper to surpass the 1,000 points mark for his time at Bob Jones. At halftime, the Bruins saw a 52-31 lead.

The Bruins didn't let up the intensity after the break and went on to score nine unanswered to start the second half. As the BJU continued to increase their lead, every Bruin player was able to get playing time in today's contest. At the buzzer, the Bruins came out on top with the 102-58 decision.

Hayes Brush and William Snipes both finished tonight with double digit points while Henry Blair led the team with 25 points. The team shot 60% from the field, 47% from beyond the three point line, and were at 73% from the free throw line.

When speaking of Henry Blair's accomplishment following the game, Coach Uwarow said, "it's always great to him have success on and off the court. Henry didn't have to play all 40 minutes tonight to hit that mark. He was able to play, get it taken care of and then was probably the loudest guy cheering on his teammates."

Up next, the Bruins will host Johnson University (FL) at the Davis Field House on Saturday for Senior Night.

As the Bruins look to hold on to the momentum from tonight's game, Coach Uwarow said "there's a time for physical, there's a time for spiritual, and there's a time for education. And this week with Bible Conference, it needs to be more about spiritual. I honestly believe that if this team is spiritually refreshed and they make God their priority, I think God will take care of everything else."

He continued by saying, "we have to come ready to play knowing that we will probably have to face Johnson University again at the regional tournament."

Tip-off for Saturday's game is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the DFH.
