Bruins Drop Both Games Against Montreat College in Fluor Field Debut

In their Fluor Field debut in downtown Greenville, South Carolina, the Bob Jones University Bruins fell in both games to Montreat College. The Bruins only scored two runs to the Cavalier's eight in game one before falling again in a 12-3 decision to close out the day. With today's results, the Bruins now sit at 2-11 on the season.

The Bruins came into today's game looking to close out an eight game losing skid after falling to Maryville College over the weekend. Montreat College came into today's game 9-10 on the season ready to round out six games in four days.

As today's game got underway at Fluor Field, the game remained scoreless until the second inning where the Cavaliers picked up the first run. After the third inning, Montreat held the 4-0 lead after see more runners cross home plate. Montreat's offense stayed hot through the top of the fourth as they recorded three more to hold a seven run advantage over the Bruins. The Cavaliers notched one more run in the top of the sixth.

Conley Burk scored in the bottom of the seventh to end the shutout for Montreat. In the final inning of game one, the Bruins were able to tally one more run in the 8-2 loss.

After a quick break, both teams were back on the field for game two of Tuesday's doubleheader. The Bruins got off to a strong start in their second game of the day as an RBI from Cole Fazio sent Conley Burk across home plate to even the score at one after one inning of play. Through the next two innings, Montreat came out strong scoring back to back three run innings. But the Bruins didn't back down and in the bottom of the third they added two more runs to their score after RBI's from Cole Fazio and Kam Lance.

The Bruins couldn't hold back the Cavaliers as Montreat scored five more times to close out the night 12-3.

Following the game, Head Coach Brent Casteel said, "I am thankful for the staff at Fluor Field for extending a great opportunity for our Bruins baseball team. They took great care of us."

Up next, the Bruins are back home at Conestee Park where they welcome Trinity International University for a weekend series Friday and Saturday.
