Tournament Schedule
The volleyball team will be making their home debut of the regular season this Friday and Saturday as they host the BJU Invitational Volleyball Tournament. The tournament will kick off on Friday at 4 p.m. with the Bruins hosting the Grace Christian University Tigers. Six additional teams will be making the trip to Greenville with the Bruins facing Boyce College, Clinton College, and Guilford College throughout the weekend.
Coming into this weekend, the Bruins are fresh off a midweek win over Brevard College. The match would go to four sets where the Bruins would play some exciting volleyball. Each of the first three sets were neck and neck, but starting the fourth set, the Bruins had all the momentum. The final from Brevard College saw the Bruins on top 3-1 (25-17, 20-25, 25-19, 25-6).
Looking ahead at each of the four matchups this weekend, two of the teams have only been matched up with the Bruins once each. For the other two teams, this will be the first time the Bruins have matched up with them. It will be an exciting weekend for all who partake!
Grace Christian University (NCCAA DII)
It has been seven years since the last meeting between the Tigers and Bruins. During the 2016 NCCAA national tournament, the two teams would face each other in pool play where the 5-seeded Bruins would be upset by the 8-seeded Tigers. The Bruins wouldn't go down without a fight though as the match would be a five set thriller (25-11, 24-26, 21-25, 25-16, 13-15). This matchup will be played Friday, September 15 at 4 p.m.
Boyce College (NCCAA DII)
Boyce College and Bob Jones last met at the 2022 national tournament. The Bruins swept the Bulldogs in straight sets (25-22, 25-12, 25-19). This matchup is scheduled for Friday, September 15 at 8 p.m.
Clinton College (NCCAA DI)
This will be the first time the two teams have ever played against one another. Coming into the weekend, the Bruins sit at 8-1 on this season with the the Golden Bears at 3-4 on the year. The scheduled matchup between Clinton and Bob Jones is for Saturday, September 16 at 12 p.m.
Guilford College (NCAA DIII)
The Bruins and Quakers will also be making their debut against one another at the net. Guilford's volleyball team is 7-2 this season heading into the weekend tournament. They bring a young, competitive team to the tournament with over half of their roster being made up of freshman and sophomores. The matchup is scheduled for Saturday, September 16 at 4 p.m.
