The Bob Jones University men's soccer team has extended their winning streak to four games after picking up a 3-1 win on the road against Greensboro College. With today's game, the Bruins have improved to 4-2-1 on the season.
"I am really proud of how we handled this game," said Head Coach Greg Fulton. "We faced adversity from start to finish and responded really well. It is never ideal to give up a goal in the first few minutes but we had a game plan and implemented it consistently."
The Bruins came into the weekend after a massive 10-0 victory over NCCAA rival Toccoa Falls College earlier this week while the Greensboro College Pride were stilling searching for their first win of the season after six games played. Today marked just the second meeting between the Bruins and Pride with Greensboro narrowly winning the first game back on September of 2019.
The Pride wasted no time and just 2:26 into today's contest, Greensboro College tallied the first goal of the game to go up 1-0. But the Bruins didn't back down and through the next 18 minutes, the Bruins went on the attack earning four corner kicks and three shots before Rylan Boldt capitalized to equalize the game in the 20th minute.Â
The 1-1 score held through to the second half until super sub Asher Auerednik stepped up to score the game-winning goal in the 64th minute. With just three minutes left on the clock, Micah Hennegan sealed the deal with his first goal of the season to see Bob Jones take the 3-1 victory.
"We have established some great momentum as we get into another tough stretch of games," said Fulton. "Ultimately so many guys are stepping up in big moments, and I am proud of all the team's hard work!"
Up next, the Bruins will be back home at Alumni Stadium on Tuesday night for a 6 p.m. match against Piedmont University.
