The Bruins hosted the Trinity College (Fla.) Tigers to open their semester at home. From the tip-off, the Bruins had the lead and never turned it over. They outscored the Tigers 83-64 on their way to their third straight win.
"We're happy with the results, obviously. It's good to get a win at home," said Head Coach Mike LeViere. "We've been on the road a lot, so it's nice to be home."
In the first quarter, the Bruins got out to an early lead. Winning the tip-off and scoring an early basket, they went up 5-0. With quick scoring from Bria Dickinson, Anna Layne Wylder, and Catherine Skebo from outside the arc, the Bruins had quickly put together a 10-point lead and would take it all the way to the end of quarter in a 20-9 lead.
The Bruins continued their scoring frenzy taking nearly a 20-point lead at one point during the second quarter. Catherine Skebo stayed hot putting up another couple three-point shots. Ainsley Hutton kept busy throughout the game first half as well as she added a couple blocks to her stat sheet. By the end of the first half, the Bruins had a respectable 41-27 lead.
Anna Layne Wylder got things started for the Bruins in the second half with a three-point shot. For several minutes, the scoring would go back and forth, but the Bruins would maintain a lead. Catherine Skebo continued to find the basket from deep as she hit several more three-pointers and Anna Layne Wylder was right behind her in three-point shots. At the end of three quarters, the Bruins had nearly a 30-point lead winning 66-40.
To get things started in the fourth, Shelby Epperson found the basket with a wild layup. With such a large lead, the Bruins were able to get their whole bench in tonight. Annie Miller was able to find the basket from three-point land extending their large lead. To finish out the night, the Bruins put the exclamation point on the game with a jumper and free throw by Annie Miller to finish 83-64.
"There were definitely some highlights from the game tonight and we're excited to have everybody contributing." finished Coach LeViere.
