The women's basketball team is getting right back into the action after the Christmas break. They start off the semester with a pair of away games hosted by Johnson University in Kissimmee, Florida. They first meet Welch College on Friday for a 6:00 p.m. showdown. The following day, the Bruins will take on the host, Johnson University FL, for a 2:00 p.m. game.
Coming out of the break, the Bruins are looking to avoid adding to their two-game losing skid. On December 15, the Bruins lost a heartbreaker to the Sewanee Tigers 66-62 and then dropped a tough game against the Covenant College Scots 63-45 the following day.
Welch College (NCCAA DII)
The Bruins and Flames have three previous meetings with the Flames leading the series 2-1. After a tough first half of the season for both these teams, the Bruins come into this matchup with a 3-8 record and the Flames with a 1-9 record. Welch started the season 1-1, but have since lost their last eight games with their most recent loss coming from Simmons College of Kentucky. The Flames lost that matchup 85-61. BJU and Welch are set to take the court for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off Friday night.
Johnson University (NCCAA DII)
The Bruins hold a five-game winning streak over the Johnson University Suns and hold the all-time record 5-1. The Suns have had a slower season as they sit at 2-6 to start the 2023-2024 campaign. They played their last game before Christmas break against Kentucky Christian University, losing 73-48. The Bruins and Suns will meet on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off.
