The 2024-25 basketball season is set to begin this weekend as the women's basketball team goes on the road to face Columbia College on Saturday afternoon.
Columbia College enters the weekend with a win under their belt after defeating Morris College 84-53 in their home opener on Thursday.
Saturday's game against the Koalas will mark the seventh meeting between the two programs with each team holding three wins apiece. The two programs last met in November of 2015 where the Bruins pulled out the 76-62 victory.
This year is sure to be an exciting one as the Bruins have added seven new members to their roster.
One of Head Coach Mike LeViere's goals for the year is to strive for excellence in every role with the purpose of glorifying God. He said, "if we can look back at the end of the year and see great improvement from the beginning to the end of the season, if we can look back and see spiritual growth in the individuals on the team, if we can look back and see how the team was used to impact others positively for Christ, then we can say we were successful."
Tip-off for Saturday's season opener is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Columbia, South Carolina.
