Bruins Control Carolina University for Big Win

The Bruins close out the busy day with a commanding 4-0 win over Carolina University, the number three NCCAA DI team in the nation.

"We knew it was going to be a physical shootout," Head Coach Greg Fulton said. "I think what went right was that the guys kept their heads which led to scoring the goals that we did and keeping them from scoring."

It was a physical match right from the opening whistle in the first half. The Bruins struck very quickly on a goal by Bryce Ramler in the 7th minute in which he seemingly dribbled up the field with zero pressure and then buried a shot past the Carolina goalkeeper. Just a couple minutes later, the Bruins had a chance to extend the lead, but Rylan Boldt was pushed from behind on a one-on-one with the keeper. That play resulted in a Carolina red card. The rest of the half continued to be physical and brought chances for both teams to score, but the 1-0 score held till halftime.

The second half was controlled by the Bruins. In the 63rd minute after pinball action in the box, Matthias Baladi was able to score making it 2-0. Just a minute later, Rylan Boldt tacked on another one making it 3-0. That marked Boldt's second straight match with a goal. Then finally in the 78th minute, Jake Provenzano found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season. That sealed the big 4-0 win for the Bruins and they handed Carolina their first loss of the season.

"This win just shows everyone how good we truly are," Coach Fulton said. "We've shown time and time again that we can play against anyone and execute on our game plan. Our goal is to take the next game and win it and then continue that until the season is over."

The Bruins play next on Wednesday, October 30 as they travel to Columbia College to take on the Koalas with a 6:00 p.m. kickoff!
