Bruins Power Past Toccoa Falls

The Bob Jones University men's soccer team soared over their NCCAA Souh Region rival with an 8-0 victory from Alumni Stadium. Eight different players got on the score sheet to contribute to Thursday's win over Toccoa Falls College. With today's victory, the Bruins have improved to 5-2-1 on the year and 2-0 in conference play.

"I am really proud of the team and how they played this game," praised Head Coach Greg Fulton. "Toccoa is almost a brand new team and they have given us many new challenges to solve, and I thought we did a great job solving them! It was a great team win with eight different scorers and every time we made a change we continued to play really well."

Coming into today's game, the Bruins held a staggering 15-0 all-time series record against the Screaming Eagles, not allowing a single goal from Toccoa Falls in the last five years.

From the whistle, the Bruins wasted no time putting pressure on the Toccoa Falls defensive line. On the far side of the field, Jake Provenzano dribbled the ball up the field and perfectly passed the ball to the feet of Bryce Ramler who opened the scoring with the first goal of the night in the 19th minute.

Less than 10 minutes later, the Bruins doubled their lead with a goal from outside the box by super subs Rylan Boldt off of the assist from Will Hotchkin who both entered the game just two minutes prior.

In the 26th minute, Rylan Boldt received the ball in front of the net and slid it to teammate Micah Hennegan who perfectly placed the ball past the Toccoa Falls keeper to give Bob Jones the 3-0 advantage.

As time was ticking down in the first half, Eli Solomon gained control of the ball and through traffic at the far corner of the box sailed the ball into the back of the net to put the Bruins on top with a comfortable 4-0 lead going into halftime.

It was all Bruins in the first half as they didn't allow a single shot by Toccoa Falls in the first 45 minutes of play.

After the halftime break, the Bruins didn't let off the gas. In the 62nd minute, Pierre Jean Philippe maintained control and dribbled the ball into the box before crossing it in front of the net where Jake Provenzano made a diving effort to score and put the Bruins up 5-0.

A few minutes later, the Bruins were fouled inside the box where they were given a penalty kick opportunity. Mario Figueroa stepped up to the spot where he shot the ball in low in the far left corner to add to the Bruins tally.

It was Asher Aurednik's turn in the 77th minute as he scored off of the assist by Mario Figueroa. With just over a minute and a half remaining in the match, Will Hotchkin got around the defenders to find Victor Muenapale who's shot sealed the 8-0 win for Bob Jones.

The Bruins concluded the match with 27 shots, 16 of those on frame, with eight different players finding the back of the net in the win.

Following the match, Coach Fulton said, "we now look to recover and finish our region play strong this Saturday while we are looking to secure the top seed at our tournament."

Up next, the Bruins host another NCCAA South Region opponent as they welcome Trinity Baptist College to Alumni Stadium for a 7 p.m. game on Saturday.
