The Bruins men's basketball team is all set for their home opener as they host the Montreat College Cavaliers in what could be the start to a very special season.
Last season, the Bruins had one of the most memorable and successful seasons in program history and fell just short of national glory. Since then, they have lost several key pieces from that team which includes four of the starting five. Don't let this distract from the fact that Head Coach Burton Uwarow and Assistant Coach Tony Miller worked tirelessly to bring in lots of talent that could get the Bruins back to the national stage. This new looking team has been waiting for a chance to show their skill.
They started the season last Saturday on the road at Columbia College in which they took a loss, but the players are confident that they have a better understanding of each other and the skill-set each can bring in a game. They now have the chance to take on Montreat College in what could be the first victory against the Cavaliers in seven years. The Bruins program stands 1-4 in the all-time series with the most recent matchup resulting in a close 96-93 loss in 2021.Â
