Bruins Win Big Against King

The Bruins are a force to reckoned with after their 3-1 against the NCAA DII opponentKing University Tornado.

The Bruins came out hot in the first half firing on all cylinders. They had several chances to get a goal but couldn't finish one. In the 33rd minute, the Bruins won a throw in their offensive third. Rylan Boldt threw it into the box and it went off the head of Tornado defender Jake Moriarty for an own goal. The Tornado had several counter attacks and corner kicks near the end of the half but came up short and the Bruins went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

The second half brought the expected fireworks with several chances each way. The Bruins kept their cool and struck again. In the 56th minute, Asher Aurednik got a through-ball into the box where he was able to cut back to his right away from defense and bury it into the back of the net. That marked Aurednik's 6th goal of the season. Then just two minute later. Mario Figueroa had a beautiful shot that got past Tornado goalkeeper Gavin Roux to give the Bruins the 3-0 lead. The Tornado were able to get one back in the 80th minute after Bruins keeper Cam Braswell and Bruins defender Dallas Albert collided in the box. The collision led to an open net and the Tornado put it in. Both Braswell and Albert are ok. The 3-1 lead held until the final whistle and the Bruins got an emphatic 5th straight win.

The Bruins next game is on Saturday capping off BJU Homecoming weekend at 7 p.m. at Alumni Stadium. They will be facing Spartanburg Methodist College.
