After winning the South Region Championship, the Bruins now have a chance to win back-to-back NCCAA National Championships in Kissimmee, Florida. They enter the tournament as the #1 overall seed.
To have a chance to play in the championship on November 23, they must first win their pool where they face two opponents. For pool play, a win gives a team three points, a draw is one point, and a loss is zero points. The team with the most points in the pool after the two matches plays in the national championship.
Up first in the Bruins way is the five seed Campbellsville-Harrodsburg who won the Mideast region. This team is not new to the Bruins, though, as they triumphed in a big 8-0 win over the Pioneers this season. The Bruins scored five first-half goals and dominated the whole match. The two teams played against each other in last years national tournament and the Bruins came away with a 7-0 win. They are looking for a similar result this year on the national stage.
Next on November 21, the Bruins have a challenge standing in their way to get into the national championship as they face Southwestern Adventist University. This will be a rematch of last year's national championship match where it took two overtimes for the Bruins to finally break through and score a couple goals to win the national championship. Mia Marks scored the official game-winner in the 96th minute that was followed by a goal from Francesca Peters in the 101st minute. That was the only ever meeting between the two teams.
If the Bruins win the pool, they will play in the national championship match on Saturday, November 23 at 6:30 p.m.
