Bruins With a Strong Show Against Anderson

In the last game of the semester before Christmas break, the Bruins fell to the Anderson University Trojans 107-83, but played a great game, especially the second half.

"This is the best Anderson team I've ever seen," Head Coach Burton Uwarow said. "They have no weaknesses, so this was a great game to play going into the break."

The first half started off rocky for the Bruins as they had a hard time containing the speed and size of Anderson's offense. The Trojans were able to jump out really quick and grow a large lead against the Bruins. It was a 58-26 score going into halftime.

Despite the struggles in the first half, the Bruins played an incredible second half! They found their groove on offense shooting 62% from the field overall and 64% from the three point line. It wasn't just the offense clicking, though. The zone defense played on their toes and were able to force eight turnovers in the half and scoring nine points off of those turnovers. The Bruins won the half 57-49 proving the talent and ability that this team has.

Tonight was the season debut of Devin Pope who played the way he knows how scoring 20 points. Trevor Brunson continued his impressive season also scoring 20 points knocking down 4 three-pointers. Trevor Pittman followed with 16 points of his own as he continues to get more and more comfortable as the season goes on. Sophomore guard Brandon Wilkins found his groove tonight scoring 14 points off the bench, and Shad Vander Hart added nine points and seven assists to the Bruins efforts.

The Bruins go into their break with confidence soaring while they look forward to begin conference play when they return! The next game for the Bruins is on the road on January 13 against Johnson & Wales University. It is scheduled to have a 6:00 p.m. tipoff.
