Tournament Info
The women's basketball team is headed to Pensacola, Florida to take on the NCCAA DII South Regional Tournament. The Bruins enter the tournament as the #3 seed after finishing the regular season 11-14 and 5-4 in the conference.
The Bruins finished their season on Saturday at Toccoa Falls on an unfortunate loss to the Screaming Eagles. The 68-55 loss would give the Bruins their third straight loss to end the season before heading to Florida for the regional tournament.
The tournament tips off at 3 p.m. on Thursday with #5 seed Trinity College FL and #4 seed Trinity Baptist College. The Bruins take the court later that evening at 7 p.m. as the #3 seed and will face the #6 seed Johnson University.
The winner of the #3 seeded Bob Jones or #6 seeded Johnson University will move on to play again on Friday against #2 seeded Pensacola Christian College at 9 p.m. The Championship match will be played on Saturday at 5 p.m.
The following is the seeding for this week's tournament.
#1 – Toccoa Falls College
#2 – Pensacola Christian College
#3 – Bob Jones University
#4 – Trinity Baptist College
#5 – Trinity College, FL
#6 – Johnson University
In Mid-December, the Bruins earned a spot as the #8 team in the NCCAA Coaches Poll and bounced between there and #9 until eventually landing back at #8 in the latest Coaches Poll. As the postseason gets underway, the Bruins finished third in the south region power ratings and sit at number 11 in the nation.
It's been a couple of years since the last south region title for the Bruins. Their last title was won during the 2021-2022 season when they survived a scare against Toccoa Falls in the semi-final game and then upset Pensacola Christian College in the championship game. The South Region Tournament begins Thursday for the Bruins. They look to earn their fourth region title this weekend with the hope of making a trip to nationals in March.
