The Bruins fall to the Truett McConnell University Bears 3-0 in their season opener on the road in Cleveland, Georgia.
Â
"I will give credit to a really strong Truett McConnell team for a well-played game," Head Coach Greg Fulton said. "We always knew this would be a tough test"
Â
In the first half, the Bears brought immediate offensive pressure that brought a quick goal in just the 3rd minute of the game. Though the Bruins had solid possession and a few corner kick opportunities, they could not find the back of the net. The Bears capitalized on a rebound to score their second goal in the 33
rd minute. The score would remain 2-0 going into the half.

The Bruins came out with stronger possessions in the second half. Though they intruded into the attacking third of the field regularly, they still couldn't find the back of the net. "We created some great chances but lacked the quality to make it count," Coach Fulton said after the game.
The score remained 2-0 until the Bears capped off the match with a goal in the 88
th minute to win 3-0.
"Overall we came up short against a strong team having only one preseason match under our belt and we were punished for our lack of sharpness," Coach Fulton said. "We will focus on growing and are eager to get back on the pitch."

Up next for the Bruins is their 2024 home opener at Alumni Stadium against the Erskine College Flying Fleet on Saturday, September 7. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
