The Bruins ended their week perfectly with a dominating win over the Southeastern Baptist College Chargers.
"Our defense is what really helped us get going," Head Coach Burton Uwarow said. "I'm proud of Tostadas Pouncey, Conner Barfield, and Brandon Wilkins for providing that spark off the bench, and I'm excited for the big night that we saw from Trevor Brunson and Devin Pope as well."
The first half was kept close for the first 10 minutes before the Bruins offense and defense both exploded. The Bruins defense held the Chargers to one single point in the last 10 minutes of the half while seemingly knocking down every shot. The Bruins forced 13 turnovers in the first half which led to many easy points in transition. Trevor Brunson highlighted the first half finding his rhythm and scoring 15 points while going 4-6 from three-point territory. The Bruins went into halftime with a 40-16 lead.
The dominance did not stop at the half. The Bruins continued to roll on both sides of the ball in the second half. They forced 13 more turnovers on defense totaling 26 on the night. Devin Pope had a couple minutes of near perfection in the second half where he scored 14 points in a hurry. He finished the game with 21 points. Every Bruin played tonight and every Bruin scored. Trevor Brunson finished with a double-double scoring 21 points and ripping down 13 rebounds. After 40 minutes of play, the Bruins came away with a 93-45 win.
The Bruins now have three straight road games ahead of them beginning next Tuesday, January 28 when they head south to Toccoa Falls College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and the Bruins will look to stay hot.
