Bruins Fall in Region Game at Toccoa Falls College

The Bob Jones University women's basketball team opened their week with a 71-56 loss to their NCCAA South Region rival, Toccoa Falls College. With today's loss, the Bruins now sit at 7-12 on the season and 2-3 in conference play.

"We're disappointed that we let the score get away from us, but with our depleted team I'm happy with the effort," said Head Coach Mike LeViere.

As today's game got underway in Georgia, the Bruins and Screaming Eagles kept it close. The Bruins trailed by just one point for several minutes until a three-pointer by Keely Price at the buzzer of the first quarter put the Bruins ahead 14-12.

Price opened the scoring for BJU in the start of second. After increasing their lead, Toccoa Falls came back to tie the game at 25 all with 3:15 left in the first half. At halftime, the Screaming Eagles led 31-27.

Toccoa Falls pulled ahead after the break and didn't back down. Their lead continued to grow and at the final buzzer, it was Toccoa Falls withthe 71-56 win.

Following the game, Coach LeViere said, "the scoreboard shows the results of two aspects of the game that Toccoa dominated in - turnovers and rebounds. We came out in the third quarter and just couldn't get anything going offensively. There was no rhythm at all and the turnovers began to pile up. At the same time we turned it over, we gave up rebounds and that is the recipe for a defeat on the scoreboard."

Coach LeViere continued saying, "Diamynd continues to get better, and going seven for seven from the free throw line as a team is a bright spot. We just need to make better reads with the ball-which is going to happen more and more as we play and gain the experience."

Up next, the Bruins travel to Rock Hill, South Carolina for a Wednesday night exhibition at Clinton College.
