From Rock Hill, South Carolina Wednesday evening, the Bob Jones University women's basketball team fell in a 62-46 exhibition contest to Clinton College.
"I am really happy with our effort tonight playing back-to-back games and being shorthanded at halftime," said Head Coach Mike LeViere. "We continued to work hard rebounding the entire game hard to overcome a lot of turnovers we had. The effort was there."
As today's game got underway, the Bruins and Golden Bears squared off in Rock Hill, South Carolina. It remained close through the first few minutes before Clinton College took a five-point advantage. The Bruins closed the gap and saw their first lead of the game with a three-pointer by Anna Layne Wylder. One final three by Faith McClary in the final seconds of the opening quarter saw the Bruins keep their 16-14 advantage.
Clinton College got the scoring started in the second frame. It was five minutes into the quarter before Keely Price sank a three-point shot to get the Bruins on the board. The Golden Bears extended their lead as the game progressed and at halftime, the Golden Bears led the Bruins 33-25.
After the halftime break, the Golden Bears held Bob Jones to just six points in the third with the only points coming from Price and Caitlyn Dickerson.
In the final quarter, the Bruins exchanged buckets with the Golden Bears as they tried to narrow the gap. Clinton College then went on a 10 point run before Price stopped the streak with a layup in the final two minutes of the game.
At the final whistle, it was the Golden Bears on top 62-46.
The team went 8-9 from the free throw line while shooting 38% from the field and 32% from outside the arc.
Keely Price led the team with 14 points and seven rebounds on the night followed closely by Caitlyn Dickerson with 11 points.
