Bruins Shutout Screaming Eagles 4-0 in Regular Season Finale

Box Score
The Bob Jones University women's soccer team shut down the Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles 4-0 in Toccoa Falls, Georgia to wrap up the 2025 regular season schedule. With today's win, the Bruins improve to 5-7-5 on the year.

From kickoff of today's regular season finale, the Screaming Eagles pressured early. The Bruins were eventually able to find their rhythm and maintain possession. About halfway through the opening frame, Francesca Aurednik put the Bruins on the board with her first goal of the game. The 1-0 advantage held through the rest of the half.

Early in the second half, Aurednik doubled the score for the Bruins. Just minutes later, she looked to notch one more in a nearly identical leadup, but the goalkeeper for Toccoa Falls blocked her shot. But Aurednik was able to secure her Saturday night hat trick as she tapped the ball into the goal after Elli Cumming's original shot was tipped by the goalkeeper. Brooke Coursen secured the win with her first collegiate goal going into the top left corner of the net.

At the final whistle, the scoreboard read 4-0 in favor of the Bruins.

"We had a slow start getting a rhythm of play, but once we found our footing and made an adjustment to our system of play, we were able to possess well which created the space and opportunities to penetrate and get a lot of good looks on goal," said Head Coach Chris Carmichael. "The entire team really stepped up and played strong. We now look forward to our regional championship match and will be preparing hard this week."

Several players commented on today's win.

Francesca Aurednik said, "I am proud of our team for getting another win against Toccoa Falls. We possessed the ball and played our game. I hope this energy carries into regionals next week."

"It took us a minute to get the hang of things, but then we kept possession pretty much the rest of the game. The games came naturally off of that," said Lydia Howell.

"Once we started connecting our passes and touches, the game was in our hands," said Brooke Coursen. "This is a great win to finish off the regular season."

Julia Hartzler also commented, "it was a solid effort on both the defensive side and the attack. We were able to find a rhythm and penetrate the high line well. I'm excited to carry this momentum into the post-season."

Next week, the Bruins will be back in Toccoa Falls, Georgia for the NCCAA South Region tournament. They have secured the #1 seed and will compete in the region championship game on Saturday.
