Bruins Find Offensive Rhythm in Second Half for the Win

After a sluggish first half, the Bruins found a rhythm in the second half to get a 92-85 victory at home over the Brevard College Tornados.

Right off the opening tip, Brevard College found an offensive rhythm that the Bruins simply could not find in the first half. The seven first half turnovers really hurt the Bruins as the Tornados were able to turn them into points on the other side. Despite the Tornados cashing in on 10 three-pointers, the Bruins stayed disciplined and kept it close. Bryson Felder led the Bruins in the first half with 11 points and was a big reason the Bruins went into halftime with only a 50-42 deficit.

In the second half, the Bruins started to settle in a little more and find better shots. Some of those shots were big threes by Drew Cannon off the bench. He went on a 9-0 run by himself with three straight makes from downtown. He finished the night with 12 points. Another force off the bench tonight for the Bruins was Dillon Harris. He was simply too big for Brevard to do anything about, especially when he got positioning in the post. He scored 10 of his 14 points in the second half.

The Bruins took their first lead with 15 minutes to go in the second half, but the Tornados took it right back. But after the Cannon explosion, the Bruins never looked back and kept the lead the rest of the game. Eight Bruins players scored more than seven points in the 92-85 win with Felder leading all scorers with 18 points.

Head Coach Tony Miller highlighted the second half after the win saying, "Defensively, we did a better job in the zone contesting threes and rotating to take away easy passes. On offense, we started moving the ball better leading to made shots."

The Bruins now move to a couple of local exhibition games against North Greenville University on November 21 followed by an exhibition against Anderson University on November 24.
