Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Trenton Goldsmith

Bruins Fall in Close One to Trinity

After a crazy back-and-forth second half, the Bruins couldn't come away with the win against Trinity Baptist College and lost in a close 74-73 game.

The start of the game was all Bruins on both sides of the ball. They forced turnovers, scored in transition, and rebounded well. The points in the first half were spread around with six different Bruins scoring four points or more. The Bruins lead got up to 12 with just under nine minutes to close out the half, and then the Eagles turned it all on. They were able to capitalize on a quick transition play and take the lead going into halftime with a score of 37-36.

In the second half, neither team held a lead of over five points. It was as back-and-forth as it could get. The Bruins defense was able to force 13 turnovers in the half but were not able to capitalize enough. Trevor Pittman led the way with 14 second half points totaling to 20 on the night. In the final two minutes of the game, each team only scored two points. Both defenses had heavy pressure and forced tough shots on both sides. The Eagles took the lead with 48 seconds remaining, and the Bruins had a couple of chances to win it but fell short in the 74-73 loss.

It is likely that these teams will meet again in just a couple of weeks at the NCCAA South Region Tournament that will be played in the Davis Field House.

But before then, the Bruins next game is on Saturday, February 15 as they travel down to Florida to take on the Pensacola Christian College Eagles in what will be a high-intensity region game. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
