The Bruins fought back but couldn't pull out the win in a close 4-3 game against the Truett McConnell University Bears.

Tillman Padgett took the mound for the Bruins today on the road and pitched a complete game giving up only two earned runs, both of which came in the first inning. After that, he settled in and pitched great. He threw strikes only walking two batters and striking out three. After a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second inning, the Bruins found themselves down 3-0.

But per usual, they fought back. Conley Burk stayed red hot hitting his third home run of the season in the top of the fourth inning. The Bears quickly answered back with another sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth making it 4-1. The Bruins later got a few runners on base in the eighth inning before Evan Johnson hit an RBI single to bring the Bruins back within two. The fight continued in the ninth inning when Max Lucien hit an RBI double putting more pressure on. The Bears answered defensively, though, and escaped a comeback from the Bruins. The final score was 4-3.

The Bruins have a weekend series coming up against Covenant College. They play a single game on Friday, February 28 at 1:00 p.m. and a double-header on Saturday, March 1 starting at 12:00 p.m.
