In a rematch against Baptist University of Florida, the Bob Jones University women's volleyball team played to a 3-0 sweep over their region opponent in Graceville, Florida. With today's win, the Bruins have improved to 4-8 overall and 2-2 in region play.
The Bruins and BUF Eagles first met on September 6 where the Eagles and Bruins battled back and forth for four sets. In the end, it was the Eagles who took the first ever meeting.
From Eagle Gymnasium in Graceville, Florida, the Bruins started out the match strong and pulled out to an early 4-0 start. The team continued to play well and stretch out their advantage. The Bruins wrapped up set one quickly with a 25-14 victory.
As set two got underway, the Bruins pulled ahead to a 8-1 start and continued to extend their lead. With set point on the line, BUF battled, but soon the second set ended with Bruins on top 25-17.
Bruins grabbed the opening points again in the third set and extended out to an 8-2 lead. The Eagles closed the gap and came back to knot the score at 21-21. After a few extra points, the Bruins were able to complete the 3-0 sweep 27-25.
"This is a great team win for us after coming off of a tough weekend." said #12 Hannah Goodwin. "We were able to redeem ourselves against a strong BUF team. I am so proud of the underclassmen's contribution to the team. They are all stepping up into big roles on the court. I think this game is evident of that, and as they get their feet wet, this team will only become stronger as the season progresses."
Up next, the Bruins travel to Charlotte, North Carolina for a Tuesday night matchup against Johnson & Wales University.
