The weather delay did not slow the Bruins down as they came away with a convincing 10-0 victory against the Carolina Christian College Centurions.
"These are tough games to play, because when you're up and have control, it's difficult to keep the standard at the bar we've set," Head Coach Greg Fulton said. "While we won 10-0 which is awesome, there are still so many things we need to do better."
The Bruins started the attack right away tonight against the Centurions. With this being their first region match of the season, they wanted to make a statement, especially after losing five straight games coming into the match. It did not take long for the Bruins to pounce and get goals in. David Issa started the scoring with a well-placed shot in the 14th minute followed just seconds later by Asher Aurednik to make it 2-0. Within the next seven minutes, the Bruins scored three more times with Aurednik finishing again followed by Bryce Ramler and Jackson Reinhard both scoring to make it 5-0. The Bruins were not done inside the first half, though. Freshman Christian Gomez scored his first career goal in the 42nd minute followed shortly by Bucky Provenzano. The halftime score was 7-0.
Going into the second half, many thought the Bruins would have the same kind of production, but the Centurions defense was pretty strong only allowing three more goals in the second half. "I feel like we should have scored twelve goals in the second half," Coach Fulton said. The first goal of the half came very quickly when Jackson Reinhard got his second goal of the match in the 47th minute. In the final 15 minutes of the match, both Issa brothers notched a goal; Fiston scoring in the 77th minute and David in the 84th minute. The Bruins found double digits tonight with a 10-0 win at Alumni Stadium.Â
"We're down a bit as far as where we usually are at this point in the season, but I know we have an insanely talented group," Coach Fulton continued after the game. "I know if we can get people healthy and on the same page, we'll have a great end to this season."
Bruins next match is another important region match at Alumni Stadium on Tuesday, September 30 as they host Trinity College of Jacksonville with a 7:00 p.m. primetime kickoff.
