Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Trenton Goldsmith

Bruins Beat the Owls on Senior Day

The Bruins celebrated Senior Day and controlled the entire game as they. beat the Warren Wilson College Owls 107-88.

"I loved that everyone got some time on the floor today," Head Coach Tony Miller said. "I want to thank the seniors especially for all the time they have put into the program, and I'm glad they played well today."

Before the game began, the Bruins recognized five seniors for their hard work and dedication to the program: team manager Alex Hogsett, student coach Davis McCarn, and players Shad Vander Hart, Dillon Harris, and Conner Barfield.

After the recognition, the game got underway and Trevor Pittman put on a show in the first half. He scored 10 of the first 12 points of the game for the Bruins and did not slow down at all throughout the half. His hot start got the Bruins out front with a lead and they never looked back. The Owls were able to stick around the majority of the game, but some well-timed buckets kept the Bruins in front by at least a couple possessions. Pittman scored 23 first half points to lead all scorers, Drew Cannon hit two three-pointers, and Shad Vander Hart ended the half with 10 straight points. The Bruins went into halftime leading 54-41.

The lead remained in the second half for the Bruins with the Owls sticking around within 10 for most of the half. With a three-pointer six minutes into the half, Pittman crossed into a new career high for the second straight game. Vander Hart led the team with 12 points in the half by driving strong to the lane. Every Bruin player was able to get time in the second half, and every player scored. Trevor Gearhart had a steal and slam that put the game on ice with a little less than four minutes to go. The Bruins came away with a big 107-88 win on Senior Day.

Trevor Pittman ended the game with career high 33 points. Vander Hart followed with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Justin Skelton and Brandon Wilkins each added 10 points to the Bruins efforts. Seniors Dillon Harris  and Conner Barfield both scored five.

While missing 11 free throws, the Bruins shot 50% from the field. This marks the third time this season that the Bruins scored over 100 points.

The Bruins now look to close the regular season next Monday as they travel to Warren Wilson College before heading to the region tournament at the end of next week.
