Sunny with a Chance of Thunder: Rumble Hits Three Homeruns in Win

Henry Rumble made history hitting three home runs in today's 4-2 region tournament win over the Southeastern Baptist College Chargers.

"I am incredibly proud of the boys," Head Coach Kyle Morrison began. "Henry Rumble was fantastic and stepped up big with three home runs, and Tillman Padgett pitched a gem on the mound and got the complete game. I'm so proud of the team as a whole and credit them with staying with the process despite not a great day as a whole with the bats."

As the away team, the Bruins were at the plate in the top of the first, and that is when Henry Rumble began his historic day. With two outs in the inning, he jumped on a pitch and the solo shot left the yard in a hurry giving the Bruins an early 1-0 lead. That carried some momentum to the defensive side of the game where Evan Johnson was nearly invincible at third base. Making several good plays, he had Tillman Padgett's back. The Chargers were able to get on the board in the second inning to tie it at 1-1.

That scored remained until the top of the fifth inning when Rumble did it again. In the same situation as the first inning, Rumble hit another solo home run with two outs to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead. The game got a little dicey in the bottom of the sixth inning after the Chargers hit a home run to tie it again. Two pick-off attempts led to two outs to get out of the inning tied 2-2.

The Bruins began the top of the seventh with two outs, and their backs were against the wall. Evan Johnson extended the inning with a single which brought up the hot hitter, Henry Rumble. Thunder struck for a third time in the game, and Rumble hit his third home run of the game to give the Bruins a 4-2 lead with only three outs to get for the win. Tillman Padgett went back out on the mound and finished his complete game win only facing three batters in the inning.

This marks the team's 14th win of the season which is a new program best in their young history. Coach Morrison said that was the goal when the season started, and he knew this team was capable.

With the Bruins win, they will now face off against the top-seeded University of Fort Lauderdale at 10:00 a.m.
