Box Score It was a tight match today in Jacksonville, Florida and the Bruins fell to south region opponent Trinity College of Jacksonville 1-0. This marks the first loss to the Eagles since 2017.

"This loss is hugely disappointing and I know our players feel the same way," Head Coach Carmichael said. "We had every opportunity to absolutely control the game and we continue to have technical mistakes and decision making and tactical breakdowns. We have to find a path forward quickly."

The match opened up and both teams had great offensive chances, and the Bruins held more possession. The Eagles had a couple big chances to break the 0-0 draw but Bruins center backs Estrella Cruz and Lauren Green stood strong in the back. In the 22nd minute, Lauren Green made a great defensive save in the box. As the match went on, the Bruins and Eagles continued to trade possession and with ten minutes left in the half, the Eagles broke through and took a 1-0 lead. To close the half, the Bruins had a flurry of shots but came up empty.

The second half was full of scrappy play between the two squads. The Bruins were trying to tie it, and the Eagles were trying to extend their lead. Both defenses made it difficult for that to happen. The Bruins main chances came on late corner kicks in the closing minutes of the match. They were able to get a couple shots away but couldn't find the back of the net. Mady Pfaffenroth laced a shot on goal but the Eagles' goalkeeper made a save. Time ticked down and the Bruins lost 1-0.

The Bruins outshot the Eagles 14-8 with a eight of those shots on goal. Lydia Howell lead the Bruins with four shots on the day, and both Shannon Miller and Lily Davis had two shots on goal.

Coach Carmichael continued more thoughts about the game: "I thought we controlled the entire game except one critical moment that cost us the game and then we didn't capitalize on some opportunities in the attacking third," he said. I take the ultimate blame for any shortcomings but I need the players to also hold themselves accountable and responsible for being more locked in for 90 minutes and more technical and making better decisions on and off the ball if we are going to have a shot to go to nationals. We have a much more challenging schedule coming up this week and I know our team will continue to grind through the challenges. I do believe we are getting better in many areas and we have a lot of players being used in positions they normally do not play and, this could reap dividends as we get closer to our regional tournament."

The Bruins are back on the pitch looking to get in the win column on Monday as they travel to Southern Virginia University for a match at 7:00 p.m.
