Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Kaitlyn Yerkes

Bruins Face Tough Test Against Radford

The Bob Jones University men's soccer team was unable to overcome a strong NCAA DI opponent and was shut out in a 3-0 decision against Radford University in Radford, Virginia. With today's result, the Bruins are now 1-2-1 on the season.

Saturday's match got off to a quick start as Radford University struck early, taking a 1-0 lead just 3:23 into the match following an early corner kick. The Bruins worked to keep the Highlanders within reach as goalkeeper Ryland Summers kept the Bruins in the match with several key saves.

The Highlanders carried their 1-0 advantage into halftime.

Radford doubled their lead just 56 seconds into the second half. The Highlanders added one more goal in the 70th minute to make it a 3-0 contest.

The Bruins created opportunities to get on the scoreboard, earning three corner kicks in the second half, but the Bruins didn't record a single shot and were unable to find the back of the net throughout the 90 minutes.

"It's always tough to lose a game, but we always were looking at this game as a one off within our season. It was a great opportunity for our guys to play on ESPN at a Division One level," shared Coach Greg Fulton after the game.

He continued saying, "this game was lost in moments. We were not aggressive enough after the restarts, and it cost us all three times. We grew into the game in both halves and finished strong but overall we will look to learn from these mistakes. We resume our season on Monday, and we will be aggressive to bounce back and grow."

Up next, the Bruins will wrap up their Virginia road trip on Monday with a match at Mary Baldwin University.
