Brent Casteel was hired as the first baseball coach in Bruins program history in July of 2018. Casteel oversees all aspects of the Bruins baseball program serving as the head coach. He started his coaching and player development career at the age of nineteen and has over 30 years of coaching experience.  
 
Prior to his return to Bob Jones University, Casteel served in a variety of coaching and ministry roles in his career. A former professional baseball player, Casteel was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1984. During his career, Casteel played alongside many notable greats such as Greg Maddux, Joe Girardi, Mark Grace and Jamie Moyer.
 
After his playing career ended, Casteel earned a B.A. in Religious Studies from BJU in 1992. He has served in various coaching roles in developmental leagues in high school programs all around the country, and has extensive experience in individual training and player development.

In 2009, Casteel joined a baseball ministry as the Director of Player Instruction to the Dominican Republic which was started by Baptist Mid Missions. Casteel and other instructors teach players in the Dominican Republic about the game while also using the avenue as a way to share the Gospel and minister to local churches in the region.
 
Since 2016, Casteel also served as assistant pastor for family and outreach at West Orlando Baptist Church in Ocoee, Florida. Casteel and his wife Diane have four children.
