This was the second conference game for the Bruins. The team defeated Columbia International University last week and followed it up with a victory over Johnson University before falling back to .500 on the year with a loss to Kentucky Christian University. The Lions opened the 2014-15 season with back to back losses on the road and were hungry to get into the winning column as they played their opening home game in front of their hometown fans.

From the opening tip, the Lions came right out of the gate and stormed out to an 8-2 advantage. The Bruins tried to counter with drives to the basket, but the Lions squelched the Bruins opportunities and executed quick transition points to continue to build their lead.

After a three-point shot by Steven Guinchard the Lions took a 21-9 advantage. From there, the team never looked back as the Lions shot 62% from the field in the first half to take a 52-28 lead into the break.

"We didn't play well defensively," Coach Ring said. "Emmanuel did a good job of shooting and running on us and we couldn't seem to stop them."

In the second half, the Lions used a 10-4 run to open the half and continue to build their lead. The Bruins tried to claw their way back into the game as Marshall Riddle drove through the lane for points and trips to the line, but it wasn't enough as the Bruins continued to struggle. The Lions continued to pour it on and led by as much as 49 points in the game. The final buzzer ended the game and the long night for the Bruins with a final score of 92-51.

"We have the opportunity to improve on this," Coach Ring said. "They were a better team tonight and they showed it."

With the loss, the Bruins fall to 3-4 on the season. Marshall Riddle led the way for the Bruins with 19 points but the team shot just 13% from three-point range and just 35% from the field. The Bruins also committed 22 turnovers which translated into 30 points for the Lions.

The team will enter a tough part of their 2014-15 schedule as their next three games will be against NCAA DI opponents. The first of those games comes up on Thursday night as the Bruins travel to Spartanburg, South Carolina for a matchup with USC Upstate.
