Lions Edge Lady Bruins 1-0

Box Score
Despite a strong performance throughout, the Lady Bruins soccer team fell short on Tuesday night in a 1-0 loss at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia. The loss moves the Bruins to a 7-8 record and snaps their 4-game winning streak.

"We played with a lot of passion tonight," Bruins Head Coach Chris Carmichael said. "We did a great job trying to solve some complex tactical challenges and I credit Emmanuel College for playing a great game."

The two teams were even throughout the match as the Lions out shot the Bruins 6-5 in the game. Possession was key as each team tried to keep the ball to move into position to score. Anna Daulton had an opportunity for the Bruins as she broke through the defense for a one on one opportunity on goal. Her shot was blocked by Lions keeper Hannah Welch as the two teams went into the half tied 0-0.

In the second half, the Lions were able to break into the scoring column as Kayla Brown scored in the 56th minute to give Emmanuel College a 1-0 lead. The Bruins came right back with opportunities of their own, but each shot was turned aside. Allyson Jenkins and Anna Daulton each had shots on frame but they didn't find the back of the net. As the buzzer sounded, the Bruins found themselves on the losing end of a 1-0 match.

"We have nothing to put our head down about tonight," Coach Carmichael said. "Our pace and energy were good and I thought we played really well against a strong team."

Jessica Baun made four saves on the night for the Bruins as the team was only able to muster three shots on goal in the match. With the loss, the Bruins fall to 7-8 on the season. Next up, the Bruins will be on the road Thursday afternoon for an important region matchup as they battle Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, Florida.
