Rajcan Hat Trick Fuels 7-0 Shutout

After back to back tough 1-0 losses in the last two games, the Lady Bruins were able to bounce back against Toccoa Falls as the team dominated from start to finish in a 7-0 victory. Mikayla Rajcan scored a hat trick as the Bruins improve to 8-9 on the season and 3-1 in region play. 

"We did a great job of making through ball passes," Rajcan said. "Taking what the defense gave us was the key in tonight's match." 

In the first three minutes of the match, the Bruins took immediate control as forward Mikayla Rajcan gave the Lady Bruins a 1-0 lead scoring off an assist from Kristyn Rygh. Rajcan continued her strong play as she notched her second goal of the match in the 15th minute of play. Abby Davis sent a long through-ball pass and Rajcan fired it into the back of the net to give the Lady Bruins a 2-0 lead. 
 
With three minutes left before halftime, the Lady Bruins were able to extend their 2-0 lead. Sophomore forward Kayla Romeiser's shot deflected off Toccoa Falls goalkeeper Emily Truelove but midfielder Bailey Martin was there for the rebound to give BJU a 3-0 lead heading into the break. 
 
"Our speed of play was great tonight," Bruins Head Coach Chris Carmichael said. "We did a great job of limiting mistakes and capitalizing on scoring opportunities." 
 
BJU was able to carry their momentum from the first half into the second. In the 52nd minute Mikayla Rajcan scored her third goal clinching her hat trick for the match. Abby Davis scored a pair of goals in the second half and Anna Daulton scored the final goal of the match as the Lady Bruins went on to win 7-0. 
 
Rajcan led the Bruins with 3 goals while Abby Davis scored two, Bailey Martin had one goal and one assist and Anna Daulton scored as well. The Bruins out shot the Eagles 26-4 in the match. The team will be back in action on Friday night as they welcome a Columbia International University to Alumni Stadium. The team will honor the eight seniors on the squad this year during the match on Friday.
