Lady Bruins Headed to 3rd Straight Title Game After Dominant Performance

Box Score
The Lady Bruins punched their ticket to the 2017 NCCAA DII National Championship as the team dominated #4 Randall University 7-0 in the semifinal match. "We really wanted to get back to that championship game, and the urgency that the girls played with really showed it," Bruins Head Coach Chris Carmichael said.

From start to finish, the Lady Bruins controlled pace and tempo of the game as the team out-shot the Saints 44-0. It was a high possession game for the team as the Saints were rarely able to move the ball into the Bruins defensive third.

Kaitlyn Hummel put the Bruins on the board just nine minutes into the contest with a tidy finish in front of the opposing goal. Just minutes later, an own goal by the Saints off of a free-kick from Ally Jenkins made the score 2-0. Despite the possession rate and shots on goal, the Bruins held a 2-0 lead at the break.

In the second half, the Bruins went right back too work as Kristyn Rygh scored in the 60th minute to increase the lead to 3-0. Kaitlyn Hummel scored her second goal of the match just 8 minutes later as the Bruins remained in control. After goals by Caralise Roach, Anna Daulton and Bailey Martin, the Bruins put an exclamation point on an impressive 7-0 victory to return again to the championship game.

The team will look to win their third straight championship on Saturday. The Bruins will play #3 seeded Providence University College who upset #2 seeded Grace Bible College 2-0 in the semifinals. Kickoff for the match is at 2:30 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
