Limited Roster and Long Travel Day Contribute to Bruins Loss

After a long day of travel, the Bruins made it to Harrodsburg, Kentucky where they faced off against Campbellsville University Harrodsburg for the first time. Traveling with a limited roster took its toll as the Bruins fell 56-70.

"I thought we played really hard and fought through some rough circumstances," said Head Coach Mike LeViere. "Overall we didn't play at the level we are capable of but our effort was there. Once again, we didn't reward ourselves for the effort."

From tip-off the Bruins would get off to a slow start as the Pioneers would go on an 8 point run. Two free throws and a layup by Gracen Ledford would get the Bruins on the board and they were able to get back into the game. They stayed right behind the Pioneers and ended the first quarter with 16 points to their 22.

A jumper by Bethany Daulton would get the Bruins started in the 2nd quarter. Three pointers by Delaney Edwards and Tamrah Konieczka would put the Bruins within three points of their opponents with six and a half minutes remaining before halftime. Going into halftime, the Pioneers would hold an 8 point lead over the Bruins.

The third quarter started out strong as Delaney Edwards would sink a shot followed by free throws from Tamrah Konieczka and Bethany Daulton. The Bruins would continue to work to cut the Pioneers lead. The Bruins scored 16 points in the third quarter to the Pioneers 13 and would head into the final quarter down 49-54.

With just one quarter to play, the Bruins allowed several turnovers and saw the Pioneers extend their lead. Despite fighting hard, points by Delaney Edwards and Gracen Edwards in the fourth weren't enough and the Bruins fell 56-70 to Campbellsville University Harrodsburg

"Our finishing around the rim has to get better and we have to make our free throws," said LeViere. "We need to control the things we can and not let the things we can't control influence us. We're getting better and looking forward to getting some players back."

Delaney Edwards led the team with 13 points in tonight's contest. Gracen Edwards was close behind with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Tamrah Konieczka finished the game with 10 points and 6 rebounds.

Next up, the Bruins continue their road trip and travel up to Michigan where they will take on Grace Christian University on Monday.
