Bruins Soar Over Stormy Petrels in 3-0 Win

The Bruins women's soccer team shut down Oglethorpe University and scored three times in Friday night's victory.

"It was a great win," said Head Coach Chris Carmichael. "We put a lot of pressure on them (Oglethorpe) right from the start. Overall, I thought it was a great game against a strong opponent. The team did really well, and I'm proud of them."

Mia Marks opened up the scoring in the 20th minute after Brinkley Adams sailed the ball down the pitch to Marks who was wide open. Mia currently leads the Bruins with five goals on the season.

Anna Grace Abrams would double the Bruins lead in the 30th minute burying the ball in top left corner to start her open her collegiate scoring account. "It felt really good to get one in the back of the net after a couple of games," said the midfielder. "I feel more confident now and it was a team effort to get it done."

The Bruins would go on to make it 3-0 in the second half. Forward Abby Herr got caught in traffic in the offensive zone but was able to drop the ball back to Kayle Stevenson who launched a rocket into the back of the net further extending the Bruins lead.

It was an easy day in the office for Bruins goalkeeper Breanna Hilton as the Stormy Petrels recorded only one shot during the whole match.

The Bruins look to recover before their road match on Tuesday afternoon against Regent University. "By next week we will be strong again and ready to go," said Carmichael. "We'll just keep building on what we're doing well."
