The Bruins volleyball team competes in the NCCAA DII National Tournament this week as the team earned the #3 seed. The team enters the national tournament having won four-straight national titles including a dramatic run to end last year's tournament. The Bruins know they will have a target on their backs as they enter the final weekend of the 2022 season.

"By winning our regional tournament, we earned the spot to compete at nationals," Bruins Head Coach Vickie Denny said. "While we enjoyed winning our region, now we are ready to move on and see what we can accomplish in this last week of our season. We have seen so much growth and improvement with this group and we are eager to demonstrate how far we have come by competing well at nationals."

The Bruins enter the tournament having won their sixth NCCAA DII South Regional championship. The Bruins swept #4 Johnson University (FL) in the semi-final before avenging last season's region championship loss with a 3-0 sweep of #3 seeded Pensacola Christian College.

Eight teams will descend on Kissimmee, Florida, representing four regions and eight states. The final tournament seeding is as follows:
  • #1 - Manhattan Christian College (Manhattan, KS)
  • #2 - Arlington Baptist University (Arlington, TX)
  • #3 - Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC)
  • #4 - Maranatha Baptist University (Watertown, WI)
  • #5 - Toccoa Falls College (Toccoa Falls, GA)
  • #6 - Boyce College (Louisville, KY)
  • #7 - Welch College (Gallatin, TN)
  • #8 - Johnson University (FL) (Kissimmee, FL)
The eight teams will be divided into two pools of four as the first two days of the tournament will be the pool play round. The Bruins will be matched first with #6 Boyce College in the first-ever matchup between these two programs. Boyce enters the tournament at 15-9 on the season having finished runner-up in the Mideast region. The opening round match is set for Thursday, November 17, at 3:30 p.m.

In the second match of pool play, the Bruins will face #7 Welch College on Friday. Welch enters the national tournament having won the Mideast Region as the team enters nationals at 14-10 on the season. This will be the first-ever matchup between the Bruins and Flames with the match scheduled for 11:30 a.m.

The Bruins will wrap up pool play on Friday afternoon as the team faces #2 Arlington Baptist University at 3:30 p.m. The Patriots enter nationals as an at-large selection having finished runner-up in the Southwest Region. This season, the Patriots twice were ranked #1 in the NCCAA DII National Coaches' Poll. This will be just the second time the Bruins and Patriots have met in their history with the Bruins winning the last matchup 3-1 in the 2019 national tournament.

From the pool play round, the two groups will narrow down to the top two teams from each pool for the final four. The semifinal round will be played on Saturday morning with the national championship set for 5 p.m. on Saturday night in Kissimmee, Florida.

The Bruins finished the regular season at 23-11 and have battled through a tough season schedule to reach their seventh-straight national tournament. The Bruins look to push their national championship run to five in a row but will be in for a difficult task as they face some of the top teams in the country.
