A five-run second inning was too much to overcome as Bob Jones University dropped their first of three games against Carolina University 22-2 in Mocksville, North Carolina. With the loss, the Bruins fall to 2-14 on the season.
Colby Hogan started the game off with a single hit towards center field. After stealing third and with two outs on the board, he'd look to Zach Burk at the batters box to help bring him home, but Burk struck out and the Bruins were unable to score anything in the first inning.
It was a strong second inning for Carolina University as they came out and took a 5-0 lead. They would increase their lead to 7-0 in the third inning.
Bob Jones would look to get things going at the top of the fourth, but Conley Burk was the only one able to score for the Bruins.
Conley Burk would score once more for Bob Jones in the sixth inning, but the BJU Bruins were unable to overcome Carolina University and fell with the final score coming to 22-2.
The Bruins have two more chances on Saturday as they take on Carolina University once again for a doubleheader starting at noon in Mocksville, North Carolina.
