The baseball team was back in action in Mocksville, North Carolina as they faced Carolina University for a Saturday doubleheader. Bob Jones fell 12-4 in game one and 18-2 in the second game to conclude their weekend series.
The Bruins looked to bounce back after Friday night's loss to Carolina University. BJU held off the CU Bruins in the first inning, but they would have a big second inning to lead 7-0. Brandon Davis and Chad Bayne would score for Bob Jones at the top of the fifth inning. The Bruins would look for a final inning rally as Chad Bayne and Conley Burk doubled the Bruins score, but it wasn't enough as the Bruins fell 12-4. Bob Jones and Carolina University ended game one with 10 hits each.
Carolina University wasted no time in game two and scored seven runs to start the contest. The BJU Bruins saw themselves down by 11 going into the fifth inning when Colby Hogan was able to get the Bruins on board. A homerun for Zach Burk, his second of the season, in the top of the 6th was the highlight for the Bruins as Bob Jones ultimately fell 18-2.
After today's games, the Bruins have fallen to 2-16 on the season.
"It was a long weekend," said Head Coach Brent Casteel. "We're hoping for better outcomes after we get back from spring break."
Bob Jones will have next week off of games before they travel to Maryville, Tennessee on March 29 for a Tuesday contest against Maryville College.
