The Bruins baseball team suffered an 11-1 loss on the road against Maryville College. With today's loss, the Bruins have dropped to 2-17 on the season.
"I'm proud of the guys," said Head Coach Brent Casteel. "Though the score doesn't show it, we learned who we really are today and were able to learn some things that we can change to get better. I'm looking to watching this team continue to grow."
After a 10-day break, the baseball team looked to get back in the win column as they faced Maryville College for the first time in program history.
With two outs on the board to start the game, Conley Burk and Zach Burk both walked to get on base. As Daniel Barcena made his way to the plate, he would hit a single up the middle giving Conley the chance to score. Up next, Daniel Wood would advance to first base after getting hit by a pitch. With the bases loaded, the Bruins would look to add to the score, but Shane Paruch struck out ending the first inning 1-0.
The Bruins would hold the Scots to only one run scored at the bottom of the first, but the Scots would go on to collect 10 more through the next five innings to bring the final score to 11-1 in Maryville, Tennessee.
Next up, the Bruins travel to Georgia for a three-game weekend series against NCCAA opponent, Toccoa Falls College.
