The Bruins women's soccer team opens their 2022 campaign with back-to-back road matches in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Meredith Soccer Classic.
Coming off of their best season in program history where they went 18-4-1, including an eighteen game unbeaten streak, the team looks to get off to a strong start this year.
Their first game of the weekend comes against North Carolina Wesleyan University on Friday, September 2. The two schools met for the first time last season where the Bruins scored four second half goals to beat the Battling Bishops 4-2.
After a quick turnaround, the women's soccer team is back on the pitch to play Meredith College at noon on Saturday. In their first match against each other last season, the Avenging Angels scored a late second half goal to come away with the 1-0 win.
Over the summer, Bruins Head Coach Chris Carmichael brought in sixteen new recruits to add to solid group of returning players. As the team enters the regular season Carmichael said "we are going to have to be patient with the process needed to have another winning season which I believe we will achieve as well as another trip to the NCCAA DI nationals. As we continue to build, I have no doubt we will get there."
Friday's game kicks off at 4:00 p.m. against North Carolina Wesleyan University and Saturday's game against Meredith College will get underway at noon in Raleigh, North Carolina.
