Bruins Volleyball Flies Over TFC Screaming Eagles in 3-0 Sweep

The Bruins traveled to Toccoa Falls, Georgia Tuesday evening where they beat NCCAA South Region rival Toccoa Falls College 3-0.

"It was a total team effort tonight. While we did not play our best ball, different players stepped up to contribute at different times while others were struggling," said Head Coach Vickie Denny. "We are thankful to come out with the win."

Coming into this matchup, the Bruins were 5-1 against conference opponents and 21-4 overall. Similarly, the Screaming Eagles were 5-2 against conference opponents, but held a smaller 10-9 overall record.

Both teams have played each other twice already this season and both own a win over the other. With the season winding down, both teams knew the importance of winning this conference matchup.

As the two teams got underway, the crowd slowly filled in the bleachers to fill the gym with cheers. The Bruins and Screaming Eagles did everything they could to gain the lead. The Bruins put together a solid first set as they went on their way to a 25-17 set one victory.

The second set was a close one. The Screaming Eagles held the lead for the majority of the set holding the Bruins off. Calling a timeout, the Bruins were able to regain the serve and take control of the set. Sneaking out the last few points, the Bruins took a 2-0 lead over the Screaming Eagles in a 25-22 set two.

With their confidence on a high and being up two wins to none over the Screaming Eagles, the Bruins were smooth sailing in the third set. Several different players were able to contribute as the Bruins took a 19-10 lead. With only several points needed, the Bruins finished the night 25-15 to take a 3-0 sweep over Toccoa Falls.

Up next, the Bruins will come home to defend their home court against Brevard College and Pfeiffer University on Thursday.
