The Bruins closed out their first semester of basketball against the Covenant College Scots in Lookout Mountain, Georgia Saturday afternoon. The Scots took an early lead over the Bruins and the Bruins couldn't keep the pace. Bruins fell 63-45.
Another slow start for the Bruins and they quickly found themselves behind. The Scots took a five point lead before Katrina Tabora put the Bruins on the board with a layup. For several minutes, the two teams battled it out keeping each other scoreless. With two minutes left in the quarter, the Scots went on a scoring run and kept the Bruins scoreless to finished the quarter 4-14.
Getting things started in the second quarter was Anna Layne Wylder with a three-point shot. Thirty seconds later, Caitlyn Dickerson followed up with a layup to cut the Scots lead to 14-9. It was another tough quarter for the Bruins as they couldn't get anything going offensively. The Scots went on another run to hold the Bruins off and the first half ended 23-14, Bruins trailing.
Caitlyn Dickerson and Anna Layne Wylder got the scoring started for the Bruins in the second half both scoring with a three-point shot. The Scots went on a scoring tear during the quarter and outpaced the Bruins 28-13. The Scots would add to their lead to finish the quarter up 51-27.
Any attempt at making a comeback seemed to slip away quickly as the offense was struggling and the rebounding wasn't happening. Bria Dickinson got the scoring started for either team in the fourth quarter three-pointer. Tonight's 20-point deficit would prove to be too much for the Bruins in a 63-45 loss.
"The break will be good for us as we get a chance to rest up after a brutal first semester schedule," said Head Coach Mike LeViere.
Up next, the Bruins will have a break between semesters to enjoy the Christmas Break before getting back to the action in January, 2024. Be sure to follow all the Bruins updates at
