The Bruins got things started after the break with a tough loss against NCCAA opponent, Welch College. After 40 minutes of play, the Flames would just outlast the Bruins in a tight 68-63 battle. Both teams were eager to get a win tonight to get a strong start coming out of the break and unfortunately, the Bruins couldn't quite get it done.
"We are disappointed overall with the way we played," started Head Coach Mike LeViere. "There were times we made the right decision, but consistency wasn't there."
Catherine Skebo, Caitlyn Dickerson, Katrina Tabora, Anna Layne Wylder, and Shea Dickinson got the nod to start for the Bruins tonight. Three players put together strong performances at the basket to score double-digit points for the Bruins. Shea Dickinson and Hallie Ritter both put up 12 points each while Annie Miller also added 10 points of her own.
The Flames got off to a quick start to begin the first quarter and went up 23-13. In an attempt to close the gap a little, the Bruins outscored the Flames in the second quarter 14-12, but after the first two quarters, the Bruins trailed by eight points at the half 35-27. The Bruins kept cutting the gap even more in the third quarter by continuing to outscore the Flames, but they couldn't hold on in the fourth quarter to close out the game. The Bruins lost 68-63 in the final minutes of play.
"I never fault the effort during the game. They intend to work hard, but we have to execute better," said Coach LeViere.
Up next, the Bruins will get another chance tomorrow against Johnson University FL in a 2:00 p.m. game. For all your favorite Bruins content, be sure to check out
