Completing their road series against Toccoa Falls College, the Bruins fell in both games to the Screaming Eagles losing the first game 8-3 before falling 9-2 in game two.
The two teams met on Thursday where Toccoa Falls claimed the first game of the series with a 9-3 result.Â
As game one of today's doubleheader got underway, the Bruins got off to a hot start. In the top of the first inning, Conley Burk homered sending two runs across home plate. The scoring continued as Gabriel Swarms singled to send Daniel Barcena home. But then Toccoa Falls responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning. It remained 3-1 in favor of the Bruins until a home run by the Screaming Eagles got them within one.Â
While the Bruins continued to battle, it was the Screaming Eagles who tallied six more runs in back to back innings to take the lead. After seven innings of play, Toccoa Falls finished game one with the 8-3 win.
Following a brief break, the two teams were back on the field for the second game of the day.Â
The Bruins were looking for a repeat start, but after a ground out to short stop the Bruins left three runners stranded at the end of the first inning. Toccoa Falls got the scoring started in the bottom of the first as they recorded four runs to grab the early lead. Bob Jones responded in the second after a single from Conley Burk sent Riley Ramsey and Isaiah Brandt home.Â
Toccoa went on to record five more runs as the Bruins fell once again to the Screaming Eagles in a 9-2 decision from Toccoa Falls, Georgia.Â
Following today's results, the Bruins are now 3-24 on the season. The team continues their road trip on Tuesday where they travel to Laurinburg, North Carolina to take on St. Andrews University.Â
