The Bruins were on the road this weekend for the Averett University Cougar Classic. Their first match was against Hollins University where they were able to secure the first win of the regular season.
The Bruins got off to a hot start and never looked back, winning in three straight sets 25-8, 25-17, and 25-21.
Head Coach Vickie Denny said, "we are especially excited to have Victoria Glaze back on the court after a devastating knee injury that sidelined her for over a year. Her hard work in rehab and her determination to play again for the Bruins has been an inspiration for all to see."
In the Bruins second match of the weekend, they would face the Averett University Cougars. The Cougars would prove to be a little bit of a tougher matchup, but the Bruins would continue to take care of business winning 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-16).
"We were so excited to start our season today against some good NCAA DIII teams." Coach Denny remarked, "It was a great day of volleyball to start our season."
The second day of the invitational will find the Bruins in the early morning match as they are set to face the Randolph College Wildcats at 10 a.m. You can find that game
