The Bob Jones University volleyball team traveled to Brevard, North Carolina to take on the Brevard College Tornados Wednesday night for a midweek match and came away with a 3-1 victory. Historically, the Bruins have done well in this matchup winning their last five against Brevard with the most recent win coming from last year where the Bruins swept the Tornados.
As the match got started, the Bruins had a bit of a slow start, but halfway through they jumped ahead and never looked back. They won set one by a score of 25-17. At the start of the second set, it was back and forth at almost a dead lock. In the final few points of the match, the Tornados would jump ahead and the Bruins would end up losing the set with a score of 20-25. As set three got underway, the Tornados tried to play spoiler again, but the Bruins battled back to win the exciting third set 25-19. Starting set four, the Bruins had all the momentum as they cruised to a 25-6 win to beat Brevard with a final score of 3-1.
"It was a great match for us and the three seniors stepped up big to help get the win. Victoria Glaze had a monster night with 22 kills (which tied her career high) while Katelyn Landkrohn led the defensive efforts," commented Head Coach Vickie Denny following the match. "Brevard is a good team and to get the win at their place was a big team effort."
Up next, the Bruins will be home at the Davis Field House as they host a two-day tournament Friday and Saturday.
