Box Score The Bruins couldn't put any goals away and fall on the road to the Columbia International University Rams 3-0.
"Despite having a tough day getting a rhythm of play we were able to create some very good looks on goal and on another day those were were likely going to be goals," Head Coach Chris Carmichael said. "I thought there were moments of the game where we showed some great stuff and then we technically broke down too often which resulted in quite a few loss of possessions."
The Bruins contained possession most of the first half with a few chances on the offensive side. The Rams, however, struck first in the 11th minute making it 1-0. The Bruins defense contained several other attacks by the Rams' offense throughout the rest of the half. Though the Bruins had a few chances moving forward, they couldn't find the back of the net. The bench for the players did a great job closing out the half which let the starters rest going into the second half. The halftime score showed the Rams up 1-0.
The second half contained most of the same kind of play. Bruins had their chances just like in the first half, but still could not get one past the Rams' goalkeeper. The Rams were able to tack two more goal on their lead. The first goal of the half came in the 57th minute after a referee-conference discussing a potential offsides call. Then in the 70th minute, the Rams scored again to go up 3-0. That lead held until the final whistle, and the Bruins suffer their first loss since September 13.
"I am confident we are going to get back into full swing this coming week," Coach Carmichael said. "This team has a lot of resilience and I am confident we will be back on track this coming week as we wrap up our regular season and get ready for regionals."
The Bruins play next on Monday, October 28 as they host Trinity Baptist College with a 4 p.m. kickoff at Alumni Stadium. This is the final home game of the 2024 season.
