The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) has named Bob Jones University English major Joy Hast the DII Student-Athlete of the Week for women's cross country.
The Bruins cross country teams hosted the Bruin Invite this past weekend where the women's team won the meet with a total of 26 points. Joy Hast has been the consistent leader for the Bruins this season and has proved she is a real contender to individually win the nationals race in just a few weeks. She started her winning ways in the Bruin Invite where she individually won the race beating second place by over 20 seconds finishing the 6k event with a time of 24:12!
"I am excited for Joy winning the award," Head Coach Ken Roach said. "She has worked really hard and has been performing very well, but it's most impressive that she is humble and very supportive of her teammates around her. She is doing a fantastic job!"Â
The Student-Athlete of the Week award is chosen by the NCCAA and recognizes the play of student-athletes in their respective sport. BJU is NCCAA DII member featuring 13 varsity programs and over 150 student-athletes.
