Volleyball Team Wraps Up Regular Season with Sweep Over Carolina University

Everything seemed to be clicking tonight at the Bob Jones University Bruins took down Carolina University 3-0 in their final home match of the season. With today's win, the Bruins finish the regular season on a six game winning streak with a 25-10 season record.

"Wow, what a game," said Assistant Coach Victoria Dunwoody. "I'm really proud of the way the team stepped up tonight. We had to change our lineup coming into the game because of illnesses on the team, so it was a brand new lineup for us and everyone stepped up and played their best game and came together as a team. It was really great to watch."

The two Bruins programs last met on October 18 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where Bob Jones fell 3-1 to Carolina.

Madison Goldstrom opened today's match with a kill to put the Bruins on the board first. Carolina then tallied four straight points before the BJU Bruins put up seven points to regain the lead. Bob Jones continued to hustle and closed out the opening set ahead 25-17.

As set two got underway, the Carolina University Bruins pulled ahead to an early lead. But BJU continued to fight and tie and eventually take their first lead of the set at 10-9. Bob Jones went on an 8-1 to end the second set taking 2-0 match lead.

Not slowing down, the BJU Bruins battled throughout the final set to come out on top 25-17 and to sweep Carolina University in the final Battle of the Bruins contest of 2024.

The Bruins finished the game with 42 kills, 12 blocks, and nine service aces. Faith Blalock led today's match with a double double of 14 kills and 13 digs.

"A lot of things worked well for us tonight: our blocking, our floor defense," said Dunwoody. "We definitely want to carry that momentum into this next part of the season for us."
