The Bruins and Bob Jones University are hosting the women's soccer NCCAA DII South Region Tournament this year at Alumni Stadium. Since just three teams are in the region this season, the Bruins have an automatic bid for the championship match on Saturday.
But first, they must know who they are going to play. The semifinal between the Trinity Baptist College Eagles and Toccoa Falls College Screaming Eagles kicks off on Thursday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium. Earlier this season, Toccoa Falls College came away with a 2-0 win at home over Trinity Baptist College. Now they both travel up to Greenville for a chance to play in the region final.
The Bruins have beaten both these teams this season. They first beat Trinity 2-0 on the road in early October followed by another 2-0 road win over Toccoa Falls just nine days later. Then in the final regular season home game, the Bruins were able to capitalize more on the offensive side and beat the Trinity Eagles 6-0 with help from the hat-trick by Celeste Baladi. No matter the opponent, the Bruins will look to have the same kind of offensive success on Saturday.Â
It is important to note that there will be a $5 admissions fee for both region tournament matches. Children 12 and under, along with students and staff from BJU with proper ID can get in free. Both matches will be streamed and properly announced on the BJU Bruins Youtube linked in the heading.
Kickoff for Thursday's semifinal is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and Saturday's championship will begin at 12 p.m.
